The Blind School (盲派) reads guest and host, body and function, and how efficiently a chart does work. The classical Zi Ping tradition reads the month command, pattern, strength and useful god. Both share one charting system; the divergence is interpretive.
BaZi cuts the timeline into four pillars and reads elemental force and the Ten Gods. Zi Wei cuts life into twelve palaces and reads stars and four transformations. The input is the same; the reasoning and the questions are not.
Without the hour, every judgement that depends on the hour pillar is unreliable. A workable path is to list candidate hours, edit the birth time and recast one at a time, screen them against your past, and use boundary notices to see where the chart is fragile.
BaZi describes structural tendencies, not a life script. Family, place, era, gender and choice differ between people born at the same moment, so their paths diverge. The framework can explain shared themes; it cannot require shared outcomes.
True solar time corrects clock time for the longitude of the birthplace and the equation of time. It can move a birth into another hour branch, and near midnight it can even touch the day pillar. Whether to use it is a stated convention, not a hidden default.
Most disagreements are not arithmetic errors but different conventions: birthplace and time zone, true solar time, the zi-hour day change, solar-term boundaries, hidden-stem tables and the start of the Major Cycles. Checked in order, most differences can be located.
BaZi can describe structural tendencies and the pacing of stages. It cannot pin down specific events, dates, health outcomes or other people's behaviour. Treating Major Cycles and annual luck as theme references, not event scripts, is the more honest use.
Judge an AI fortune-telling product by eight checkable items rather than its marketing: how it charts, how it shows evidence, whether it addresses the past, how transparent its conventions are, how it treats the birth hour, what it refuses to do, how it handles privacy, and how it prices.
A single chart describes one person's structure and pacing. Compatibility reads how two charts move each other through their Day Masters, stems, branches and palaces. The right order is to cast each chart first, then compare the interaction, not to add two readings together.
